MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente Sotto III said his running mate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson easily proved his worth to be the country’s next president during last weekend’s presidential interview with television anchor Jessica Soho.

Sotto, who is running as vice president alongside Lacson, commended his colleague for his “outstanding performance” during the interview, which was attended by three other public officials gunning for the presidency in this year’s national elections.

The Senate chief said Lacson clearly showed during the interview that he can “lead not only by words but by heart” as he ticked off the priorities of his government.

“His plans are realistic, backed by science and experience. He has the courage to enforce reforms, and he is truthful and sincere in his desire to see meaningful change in our country. More importantly, he knows what he can offer our people and our nation,” Sotto said.

Sotto also said: “Sen. Ping’s kind of leadership knows no fanfare or cliche soundbytes. He is a man of conviction and action. Siya ang kandidato na hindi mo kailangan i-explain bakit siya ang binoto mo.”
