MANILA, Philippines — Even if the low pressure area (LPA) east of the country is not expected to turn into a tropical cyclone, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has warned it may still cause isolated rains over parts of Visayas and Mindanao in the coming days.

Latest updates from the weather bureau on Monday afternoon showed that the LPA was last seen 120 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The LPA, Pagasa said, can still cause landslides and flooding especially over most parts of Bicol Region, the entire Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga Region — the areas hit by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon would also see partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the northeast monsoon or amihan and the LPA.

For Tuesday, Pagasa predicted that a generally fair weather would be felt over Luzon except for Bicol Region due to the LPA.  Temperatures over Legazpi would be slightly lower at 23 to 29 degrees Celsius, compared to Tuguegarao’s 22 to 31 degrees, Laoag at 22 to 30 degrees, Metro Manila with 23 to 31 degrees, and Puerto Princesa’s 24 to 32 degrees.

Most of Visayas and Minadnao on the other hand would experience rains, which may result into temperatures of 24 to 29 degrees Celsius in Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro, 25 to 30 degrees in Cebu and Iloilo, 24 to 30 degrees in Davao City, and 24 to 32 degrees in Zamboanga.

No gale warning has been raised as of now, but Pagasa reminded fisherfolk and small boat operators that sea condition from the western, northern, and eastern coastlines of Luzon, down to the entire eastern waters including Visayas’ inland waters would be moderate to rough.

The coastal waters west of Mindanao would also be moderate to rough, while Palawan’s northern coast would be moderate, and Mindanao’s southern seas would have a slight to moderate condition.
