MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo who is now running for president said that although she may not have enough resources for her campaign, the commitment and dedication of her supporters can match the strong political machinery of her opponents.
Robredo made the remark when journalist Jessica Soho noted that the Vice President is ranking second behind Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos in recent surveys.
Robredo joined other presidential hopefuls in Jessica Soho’s Presidential Interviews which was aired Saturday night by GMA-7.
“Iyong ating katunggali napakalakas ng political machinery, napakaraming resources, yung political might napakalakas,” Robredo noted. “Pero meron kami na wala sila.”
“Yon yung passion, yung committment, yung dedication ng napakaraming volunteers. And para sa akin, walang sinabi yung resources, walang sinabi yung political might, sa desire ng taumbayan na lumaban para sa bansa natin,” she said.
(My opponents have a strong political machinery, so many resources and a very strong political might. But we have what they do not have. That is the passion, the commitment, the dedication of so many volunteers. And for me, their political might is nothing compared to the desire of our countrymen to fight for our country.)
It can be recalled that 53 percent of respondents of a Pulse Asia survey picked Marcos Jr. as their presidential bet while 20 percent chose Robredo. The survey was conducted from December 1 to 6, 2021.
