MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Saturday said his loyalty only lies with the people and not with any political party.

Moreno, speaking with Jessica Soho during the Presidential Interviews aired on GMA-7, had this response when the host brought up his tendency to switch political parties.

(My loyalty lies with the people. It only matters to me if it’s advantageous to people, not for politicians. If you are good and you fulfill your promises, then I’ll join you. But when you are not true to yourself and the people, it’s not an imperative to me to remain loyal to you, because my loyalty lies with my countrymen.)

Moreno, who served as vice mayor of Manila for nine years, switched allegiances from late Mayor Alfredo Lim to former Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada.

Moreno and Erap also had a rift when the former ran for mayor to contend with the former president.
