1 dead in Quezon highway road crash

LUCENA CITY – One motorist perished while another was seriously injured in. a collision between a motorcycle and a van along the national highway in Sariaya, Quezon Friday night, the local reported on Saturday.
The Quezon police reported that Manolo Vecinal, 49, was aboard a motorcycle driven by Francis John Obniala, 29, when they were hit by a van driven by Alvin Malabanan, 30, in Barangay Manggalang Bantilan at around 9 p.m.
Both motorcyclists were thrown off their vehicle, landed on the pavement and sustained serious injuries.
Vecinal died while being taken to Greg Hospital at the town center. Obniala was taken to Quezon Medical Center in this city.
The report did not state whether or not the victims were wearing crash helmets.
Citing two witnesses, police claimed that the motorcycle suddenly entered or crossed the junction that resulted in the collision.
