Pro-Robredo group warns CamSur mayors

/ 05:20 AM January 22, 2022

A group of Vice President Leni Robredo’s supporters from her bailiwick region on Friday dared nine Camarines Sur mayors to declare once and for all whom they were supporting for president in the 2022 elections, after they were named in a press release to have declared their support for Robredo’s chief rival.

In a strongly worded statement, Solid Leni Bicol warned the nine mayors—most of whom were reelectionists—that there would be massive pushback on the ballot if they were revealed to be Marcos apologists.

The said nine mayors supposedly expressed support for Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during a meeting at the residence of House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez in Makati.

Two other local chief executives have since publicly denied the release and declared unequivocal support for Robredo. The group said they gave them an ultimatum to clarify their stance by Jan. 22. —Krixia Subingsubing
