OCTA: Olongapo among cities with high COVID-19 growth rate outside ‘NCR Plus’

OLONGAPO CITY–This city has registered a 68-percent COVID-19 weekly growth rate, which was among the highest outside the so-called NCR Plus (National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal), data from the OCTA Research showed on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

At least 31 new COVID-19 cases were added to the latest tally of the
city, and OCTA Research said the city’s average daily attack rate per 100,000 population from Jan. 12 to 18 was high at 23.01.

Olongapo was among the 16 highly urbanized cities to register a high COVID-19 growth rate outside NCR Plus, logging a seven-day average of 51 cases.

Also on the list are the cities of Angeles, Bacolod, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Lapu-Lapu, Lucena, Naga, Santiago, Tacloban, and Zamboanga.

But Olongapo’s active cases declined to 604 on Tuesday after recording 84 new recoveries. Its death toll still stood at 320, with no fatalities on Tuesday.

The local COVID-19 task force has been monitoring 19 suspected COVID-19 cases.
