Coastal cleanup drive in Pasil this weekend
HUNDREDS of barangay residents, civic club volunteers and Coast Guard elements are expected to join a coastal cleanup drive on Saturday, March 3, in the coastal barangays of Pasil, Sawang Calero and Suba in Cebu City.
Lawyer Aristotle Batuhan said the activity is part of the numerous programs initiated by Abante Barangay, in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard and Earth Savers Club-Philippines, including a series of supplemental feedings in barangays with high incidence of malnutrition rate.
Abante Barangay reaped the fruits of their labor in their supplemental feeding program in barangay Duljo-Fatima that started September last year.
Of the 50 malnourished children in the barangay, 12 severely underweight and 16 underweight children now weigh normally.
Abante Barangay feeds the children with rice, tinolang manok, pork bola-bola, egg drop soup, chicken guisado, sarsadong galunggong, shanghai roll and sotanghon to help them gain weight every month for six months.
For its Information Technology program, Abante Barangay has already distributed computer desktops to the 25 of the 34 barangays in the south district and started giving out computers to the 69 public schools in the district.
