SIXTEEN public schools in Cebu City are set to benefit the major sports and grassroots development program which the Cebu City Sports Commission will kick off middle of April.
Cebu City Sports Commission’s grassroots development program has been recently recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission during the sports summit held in Metro Manila.
CCSC Chairman Edward Hayco is set to meet today with Department of Education Schools Division superintendent Dr. Rhea Mar Angtud to finalize the planned programs of CCSC.
Hayco said he expects his office’s grassroots development programs to be implemented after the Holy Week break.
Fourteen sports will be offered for free to the Cebuano youth this summer including dancesport, taekwondo, arnis, volleyball, table tennis, chess, boxing basketball and many more.
Aside from the Cebu City Sports Institute in San Nicolas, the participating schools which will be covered by the program will use their gymnasiums to facilitate the participants.
“We will request Dr. Angtud to ask public school sports coordinators to help us oversee the summer program as well as the scheduling of the sports to be offered,” said Hayco. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
