Suspect in 2015 Zamboanga City bombing nabbed in Sulu while getting police clearance
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — A suspect in the bombing of this city’s bus terminal in 2015 is now in police custody following his arrest in Sulu, according to Maj. Shellamie Chang, spokesperson of the Zamboanga Peninsula Police Regional Office (PRO9).
According to Chang, the suspect — identified Aldamer Jul Sahibuddin, 31 — is detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), while his transfer to a facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is being arranged.
Lt. Raine Simyunn, ZCPO spokesperson, said Sahibuddin was wanted for double murder, multiple frustrated murder, and multiple attempted murder for the Jan. 23, 2015 bombing of the bus terminal in Barangay Guiwan.
The explosion left two dead and more than 50 people wounded.
Chang said the suspect was arrested on Jan. 4 at the Indanan Municipal Police Station in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan town in Sulu while he was securing police clearance.
Sahibuddin has a standing warrant of arrest issued by Judge Peter Eisma of Regional Trial Court Branch 15 dated July 16, 2015.
