MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Saturday announced that it will temporarily close its offices in Quezon City with the continued rise in COVID-19 cases.
In an advisory posted in Facebook, the CHR said its central office, National Capital Region office, and Region 4-B offices, will be closed from Jan. 17 to 21 “to give way for contract tracing and the protection of its clients and staff against COVID-19.”
The CHR’s hotlines, however, will remain open for the public.
“CHR hotlines and other reporting channels, including our social media accounts, shall continue to be open and ready to attend to your concerns,” it said.
The country is currently in the middle of an exponential rise in COVID-19 infections, with the Department of Health earlier reporting 39,004 new cases of the new coronavirus, the highest ever since the pandemic started in 2020.
Active COVID-19 cases in the country are now at 280,813, with 3,168,379 confirmed cases.
