OLONGAPO CITY—A 15-day-old baby boy and five children were among the 84 new COVID-19 cases recorded in this city, which continued to experience a spike in infections since the start of 2022.

Data from the local COVID-19 task force showed Thursday that the other sick children were 6 to 15 years old.

The new infections raised the active COVID-19 cases in the city to 353, the highest in the last five months.

The task force data show that most of the new COVID-19 patients had been vaccinated fully against the viral disease and experienced symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and coughing.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the city registered 5,816 COVID-19 cases, with 5,145 recoveries and 318 deaths.
