Gun ban violator nabbed in Nueva Ecija
PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija––Police arrested Thursday a 57-year-old laborer, who yielded an unlicensed pistol, at a checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion East in this town.
Investigators said Percival Miranda of the said barangay was the first gun ban violator arrested in Nueva Ecija amid the election period.
Miranda was flagged down around 7:45 p.m. at a checkpoint attended to by a combined force of Nueva Ecija police’s 2nd provincial mobile field company and the municipal police office.
When accosted, authorities found a .45-caliber pistol from Miranda, police said.
The suspect failed to present a certificate of authority to carry a firearm.
Criminal complaints of violation of the Comelec gun ban and Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against Miranda. INQ
