MANILA, Philippines — The Manila City government will be administering booster shots via drive-thru to owners of four-wheel vehicles starting Thursday, January 13.
“Due to the request of our constituents and the people, i-innovate natin itong vaccination drive-thru dito sa Luneta. Imbis na first and second dose lang, gagamitin natin siya ngayon na booster vaccination drive-thru site,” Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Wednesday, during his inspection at the Quirino Grandstand where a drive-thru vaccination site has been established by the local government.
“So ibig sabihin pwede jeep, taxi, private, o mga korporasyon, pwede po silang magtungo dito sa Luneta drive-thru vaccination site ng City of Manila,” he added.
According to Moreno, the booster shot drive-thru will be implemented on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 300 vehicles with a maximum of five recipients per vehicle.
This means that about 1,500 booster doses of various anti-COVID vaccine brands will be available for daily deployment at the drive-thru inoculation site.
Moreno also said the administration of booster shots will be open for the general public, including those residing outside the city of Manila from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We welcome you to the City of Manila, basta tayo tulong-tulong muna. Ang importante, ma-booster ‘yung tao, mabakunahan ‘yung tao para maiwasan ang kamatayan sa impeksyon ng COVID19. Vaccination is the solution. That is the only way to protect yourself and your family,” he pointed out.
“So ngayon palalakasin pa natin, palalawakin pa natin, Yayakapin natin hangga’t kaya natin yakapin kahit sino, kahit taga-saan, basta ang importante, tao muna, mabuhay ang tao, maligtas ang tao,” he added.
As of January 11, the Manila City government has injected 198,454 booster doses.
The administration of booster jab for riders of two-wheel vehicles at the Kartilya ng Katipunan is likewise ongoing, according to the local government. More than 5,000 delivery, motorcycle, and bicycle riders have so far received their booster shot from this inoculation site.
