MANILA, Philippines—The suspected improvised explosive device recovered at Kalibo International Airport, Aklan Tuesday evening was not a bomb but “used car parts”, a Philippine National Police official said Wednesday.

PNP chief, Director General Nicanor Bartolome said the suspicious LBC pouch found by airport inspectors at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday among packages being processed in the airport turned out to be used car parts when it was forced open by bomb specialists.

“No hazardous items or IED components were found inside the suspicious pouch,” Bartolome said.

The package was left at the LBC cargo area of the airport consigned to one Michael L. Agravante with address at Kalawag 3, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
