BACOLOD CITY – Fastcraft plying the Bacolod-Iloilo-Bacolod route temporarily halted operations on Monday, Jan. 10 after more stringent travel rules were enforced.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, in a Facebook post, said since Bacolod City now requires inbound travelers to present a negative swab test result, Iloilo City now demands the same.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier issued an executive order requiring travelers from areas under Alert Level 3 entering Bacolod City to present negative swab test results.

Bacolod City is under Alert Level 2.

Frank Carbon, Weesam Express consultant, said very few were traveling because of the expense. Passengers have to pay not only for their transportation but also for their swab test.

He said Ocean Jet and Weesam Express temporarily halted operations Monday, and he hoped the stringent travel restrictions were short-term so they could resume operations by Jan. 15.

Roll-on, roll-off vessels that carry cargo continued to ply the Panay-Bacolod route, Carbon said.
