MANILA, Philippines — A person claiming to be in the party attended by the girl who skipped COVID-19 quarantine in Makati City more than a week ago has tested negative for the virus.

According to Carlos Laurel, he immediately went into isolation after learning that “Poblacion Girl” – the moniker subsequently given to the girl who avoided quarantine – was found coronavirus-positive.

“Makalipas ang pitong araw mula sa posibleng exposure date ay nagpa-test agad ako (RT-PCR) at negative ang naging resulta nito,” Laurel said in a Facebook post on Monday, January 3.

(Seven days after my possible exposure date, I had my RT-PCR test and the results turned out to be negative.)

Laurel said in a television interview on Thursday that he has been coughing, but since he already tested negative for COVID-19 it may only be due to the flu season.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat earlier revealed about a Filipina who returned from the United States and violated the Philippines’ COVID-19 quarantine protocol when she left the hotel where she was expected to spend her quarantine days and then attended a party in Poblacion, Makati City. Puyat also said that the coronavirus test result of the girl turned out positive.
