22 areas in NCR, 7 provincial areas under granular lockdowns — PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of areas under granular lockdown in Metro Manila further increased to 22, said the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday, while the total nationwide rose to 29 amid rising cases of COVID-19.

According to the PNP, 16 of the areas in Metro Manila were reported by the Northern Police District (NPD), five were from the Manila Police District, and one was from the Southern Police District.

The NPD covers the cities Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela.

Meanwhile, nationwide, apart from the 22 in Metro Manila, Police Regional Office (PRO) Mimaropa reported six areas under granular lockdown, while PRO Cordillera continues to have one.

The PNP, however, did not specify the areas in the country that were placed on granular lockdown.

A total of 86 individuals are affected by these granular lockdowns, said the PNP.

This came amid the continued rise in COVID-19 cases, which prompted the national government to place Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, and Cavite under COVID-19 Alert Level 3.

On Wednesday, the Department of Health reported 10,775 COVID-19 infections, which brought active infections to 39,974.
