Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian contracts COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Wednesday announced that he tested positive for COVID-19.
“I wish to inform my fellow Valenzuelanos that I have tested positive for COVID-19 after recently undergoing routine work safety testing at City Hall,” Gatchalian said in a Facebook post.
“I am manifesting very mild symptoms and will continue to discharge my responsibilities as City Mayor from one of the City’s isolation units where I am currently under mandatory quarantine. Rest assured the services of City Hall will continue without any hitches,” he added.
He added that Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad Borja along with the whole City Hall Management Team will be in full force in “physically running the affairs of the city.”
