Pagasa: Expect overcast skies, rains in Cagayan, Batanes, parts of Vis-Min

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon and the shear line will bring rain over Cagayan, Batanes, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga and Davao in Mindanao on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“May inaasahan na lamang tayong makulimlim na panahon na may mahinang pagulan sa may Cagayan pati na rin sa bahagi ng Batanes dali pa rin po ‘yan ng amihan,” said Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren.

(We are expecting cloudy weather with light rain in Cagayan as well as in Batanes, due to the northeast monsoon.)

“Sa bahagi ng Visayas and Mindanao inaasahan pa rin natin na makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat kalat na pagulan mga pagkidlat at pagkulog ang bahagi ng Eastern Visayas, Caraga at Davao Region,” she added.

(In parts of Visayas and Mindanao we expect cloudy skies with scattered rain, lightning and thunder in parts of Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience fairer weather and clearer skies, according to Clauren, but light rains should still be expected during the afternoon and evening.

For the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, on the other hand, Clauren said hotter weather will prevail especially in the morning until noon, but localized thunderstorms should also be expected in the afternoon and evening.

Clauren also said that no storms or low pressure areas are forecast to affect the country in the next three to five days.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Wednesday:

Metro Manila: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 12 to 21 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  19 to 29 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 19 to 27 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 30 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 20 to 28 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 30 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 23 to 29 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 23 to 28 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius

Still due to the northeast monsoon, gale warning is raised over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central, Southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.
