NKTI to stop outpatient services from January 7 amid rising COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) on Tuesday announced that it will be closing its outpatient services starting January 7 “following another surge of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.”

The NKTI said it will be shutting its outpatient services “until further notice.”

It also noted that the operation of its private outpatient clinics will be left to the discretion of concerned physicians. It advised private patients to coordinate with their respective doctors regarding appointments.

“Following another surge of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila, we will be closing our OUTPATIENT SERVICES (OPS) effective January 7, 2022, until further notice,” the NKTI management said in an advisory posted on Facebook.

“All consultation during this period will be shifted to Telehealth Services,” it added.

The country is facing notable increases in new COVID-19 infections, particularly in Metro Manila.

On Tuesday, the Department of Health reported that 5,434 more people contracted COVID-19, including the 3,826 from the National Capital Region.
