COVID-19 cases in Zambales rising again

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales–Five new COVID-19 cases in the province were added to its tally on Wednesday, Dec. 29, its highest in nearly a month, local data showed.

Since Dec. 3, the province has only been logging a daily record of fewer than five cases or no infections at all.

The fresh infections and two additional recoveries that day brought to seven its active cases.

The province has registered 9,877 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck last year.

At least 9,645 of these cases had been cleared of the viral disease, reflecting a 93.98-percent recovery rate.

The province’s mortality rate stood at 6.11 percent after 608 patients died due to COVID-19 complications.

About 57 percent of its target eligible population had been fully vaccinated against the viral disease, according to the provincial health office.
