Duterte leads Rizal Day rites in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday graced and led the 125th Rizal Day rites at Rizal Park in Manila.

Duterte, who rarely attends events in the morning, led the flag-raising and wreath-laying at Rizal Park at around 8 a.m. Thursday.

He did not deliver a speech during the event and left the venue after fist-bumping some officials present during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, he is expected to hold a ceremonial signing of the proposed P5-trillion 2022 national budget at the Malacañan Palace.
