Calapan reports no new COVID-19 case on 4th straight day

CITY OF CALAPAN — This city has recorded no new COVID-19 case from December 22 to 25, health authorities said Sunday.

The city also has only 10 active cases during the period distributed in six of 62 villages, according to the City Health and Sanitation Office.

Since the pandemic started in March last year, the city has reported a total of 3,064 COVID-19 cases, with 2,931 recoveries and 123 deaths.

Meanwhile, total vaccine doses administered in the city stands at 183,378, as of December 23.

Total individuals vaccinated reached 100,400 or 98.38 percent of the population targeted for herd immunity. Of this number, 86,841 (85.10 percent of the target) are fully vaccinated individuals and individuals with booster dose stand at 2,086.

The city targets to vaccinate 102,050 individuals or 70 percent of its 145,786 population for 2020.

Mayor Arnan Panaligan said they hoped to achieve maximum population protection by the end of December and herd immunity by January or February 2022, assuming that the supply of vaccines allotted for the city will continue to arrive at a faster pace.

As of December 22, Oriental Mindoro provincial government reported that the province still has 59 active COVID-19 cases.

Since the pandemic started in 2020, it has reported a total of 9,981 cases, with 9,386 recoveries and 536 deaths.
