Metro Manila records 201 new Covid-19 cases on Christmas Day

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region recorded 201 new COVID-19 infections on Christmas Day, independent watchdog OCTA Research said Sunday.

NCR was the region with the highest number of new cases on Dec. 25, up from 129 new infections listed on Dec. 24.

Cavite in Calabarzon had 19 new infections, followed by Iloilo and Negros Occidental in Western Visayas with 15 new cases each.

In NCR, the city of Manila had 58 new cases, followed by Quezon City with 25.

The Department of Health on Saturday recorded 433 new COVID-19 infections nationwide. OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said the new numbers were at the upper range of the research group’s projection.

There are currently 9,376 active COVID-19 cases across the country and the positivity rate was at 1.6 percent.
