CITY OF CALAPAN––The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city stayed low at 13 on Monday.
The City Health and Sanitation Office said most of the remaining active cases, located in 10 of the city’s 62 villages, are asymptomatic.
Since the pandemic began in March last year, 3,062 COVID-19 cases had been reported in this city, with 2,926 recoveries and 123 deaths.
Meanwhile, the total number of individuals vaccinated in the city as of Dec. 20 was 99,930, or 97.92 percent of the target population, for herd immunity. Fully vaccinated individuals comprise 82,353 (80.70 percent of the target). Individuals with booster doses are at 1,877.
The city’s target population for herd immunity is 102,050 individuals, or 70 percent of 145,786, Calapan’s estimated 2020 population.
Recently, Calapan won the Most Competitive Component City in Resiliency Category in the Competitiveness Ranking of Cities and Municipalities for this year.
The National Competitiveness Council, the Department of Trade and Industry, and other government and non-government organizations gave the award.
