MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano directed the creation of a special committee to investigate a robbery incident in Pasig City that involved four police officers assigned within his jurisdiction.
Cayetano also called for the immediate reshuffling of city police personnel.
“I am creating a special investigation committee that will immediately look into a robbery incident involving a Taguig City employee. All links in relation to this incident will be looked into,” he said in a statement.
The National Capital Region Police Office on Sunday identified the arrested policemen as Staff Sergeant Jayson Bartolome, Corporal Merick Desoloc, Corporal Christian Jerome Reyes, and Patrolman Kirk Joshua Almojera —all assigned at the Taguig City Police Station; and their cohort, AJ Mary Agnas, who authorities described as a “staff of the victims.”
According to a report from the NCRPO, two persons, including a Japanese national, sought assistance from authorities after being robbed in Barangay Kapitolyo on Saturday, December 18.

Cayetano branded the robbery incident as “deplorable” even saying that it will not be tolerated. He asked the chief of the Taguig City Police to clean their ranks and reorganize the force.
“The City condemns all acts of violence, illegal drugs, and corruption and it will not tolerate any employee who is involved in any form of crime. Let this serve as a very strong warning to bad elements who prey on innocent civilians. In Taguig, regardless of who you are, you will be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” the local chief executive said.
The city government likewise lauded the members of the Pasig and Makati police for their efforts which resulted in the arrest of the Taguig City police officers.
