DA eyes price freeze on agricultural products
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) is looking into the possibility of imposing a price freeze on agriculture products in areas devastated by Typhoon Odette to ensure that there would be enough food supply in the affected areas, according to Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista.
“We will also look into the supply, we will look into the needs. Food security is very important,” she said at the Laging Handa briefing.
Officials are now checking the prices and availability of food, she said. She also said the agricultural food supply in Metro Manila was not affected by the typhoon.
The regions that supply agricultural commodities to Metro Manila were not hit by the typhoon, she said.
