DOH confirms 289 new COVID-19 cases

The country’s active COVID-19 cases are currently at 10,095 as the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 289 new cases on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases are currently at 10,095 as the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 289 new cases on Thursday.

According to DOH, another 380 patients also recovered and 47 have died. Overall, the Philippines already had 2,837,016 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of this figure, 2,776,425 are recoveries and 50,496 have led to deaths.

The DOH also reported a positivity rate of 0.9 percent out of 37,139 individuals who got tested for coronavirus last Tuesday. Four laboratories were not operational on Tuesday while three were not able to submit their data.

Of the over 10,000 cases that remain active, 549 are asymptomatic, 3,870 are mild, 3,442 are moderate, 1,845 are severe, and 389 are under critical status. Mild and asymptomatic cases compose 43.8 percent of the active cases.

Meanwhile, the health department said 22 percent of intensive care unit beds, 23 percent of isolation beds, 13 percent of ward beds, and 12 percent of ventilators are currently being used.

The DOH removed nine duplicate entries and 179 cases that were found to have tested negative from the total case count. Forty recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after validation.
