Serrano said the victims, upon invitation, joined the group of the suspects in a drinking spree after witnessing the Christmas lighting event at the town’s public plaza.

As they were drinking, the victims caught the attention of the girls in the group, which angered the suspects, one of whom threatened to stab them if they didn’t leave, Serrano said.

A commotion ensued due to the threat, the police official added.

Members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) and the police officers who were near the area held five persons while bystanders brought the victims and Orong, who sustained minor stab wounds, to a nearby hospital.

From the hospital, Orong was detained together with his 17-year-old friend.

Serrano said a homicide case will be filed against the two suspects on Monday.
