Parañaque vaccinates 10,000 persons daily during nat’l vax program

Parañaque City was able to administer 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines daily during the national inoculation drive dubbed Bayanihan, Bakunahan.

MANILA, Philippines —Parañaque City was able to administer 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines daily during the national inoculation drive dubbed Bayanihan, Bakunahan.

The Bayanihan, Bakunahan was held from November 29 to December 1, but was extended in some areas until December 3.

“‘Yung last time po natin very successful ‘yung ating 29, 30, saka ‘yung 1 at saka ‘yung extension. Sa Parañaque po, in fact, naka-10,000 po kami everyday nung ating vaccination day na ‘yun,” Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez told Teleradyo’s Kabayan on Wednesday.

According to Olivarez, more eligible individuals are needed to be administered with a booster shot.

He added that pediatric vaccination has reached 60 percent.

“Ang marami po natin ngayon ‘yung booster at saka po ‘yung tinatapos po nating 12-17-years old kasi nakaka-60 percent na po kami sa Parañaque sa pediatric vaccination,” he shared.

(More people needing a booster are yet to be vaccinated and we are completing the 12-17-years old because we hit 60 percent in Parañaque’s pediatric vaccination.)

Olivarez also said that they are prepared for the second vaccination drive set on December 15 to 17.

Parañaque City is among the highly urbanized cities that have achieved herd immunity, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said on Tuesday.

The three-day Bayanihan, Bakunahan aimed to immunize nine million individuals against COVID-19.

Since the inoculation program was extended in some areas, 9.9 million doses were administered, the Department of Health said.
