Over 500 held, P3M illegal drugs seized in 1 week in Central Luzon

Three South Koreans reportedly involved in telecoms fraud were arrested in Novaliches in Quezon City, the Bureau of Immigration said. OLONGAPO CITY––Police arrested at least 567 people in Central Luzon during a weeklong anti-criminality drive, officials said Tuesday, Dec. 7.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, director of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), said the operation from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6 also yielded some P3 million worth of illegal drugs.

Among those arrested were 122 individuals who have standing warrants of arrest for various crimes, such as murder, frustrated murder, and rape.

The others were arrested for their alleged involvements in illegal drugs, gambling, and logging.

Seized from the drug suspects were 365 sachets of alleged “shabu” (crystal meth) weighing 451 grams and marijuana weighing 320 grams.

“These accomplishments, particularly in the arrest of most wanted fugitives, people involved in illegal drugs, and street crimes were the results of the strong support of all local chief executives in the anti-criminality programs of the PNP-PRO3,” Baccay said. INQ
