Eastern Visayas has fewer crimes against women, children – PNP

TACLOBAN CITY- The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Eastern Visayas has reported a decline in cases involving women and children.

Based on its data, the PNP said there were 3,393 reported cases involving women and children across the region from March 16 to November 23, 2021.

In the same period in 2019, there were 4,055 cases of violations against women and children.

Brigadier General Rommel Bernardo Cabagnot, police regional director, said the pandemic restricted the movements and mobility of the people and could be a factor in why the cases decreased.

He, however, admitted that there could be unreported cases.

“I am calling the public to be of help in solving these kinds of crimes,” Cabagnot said in a statement.

Out of 3,393 cases, 1,463 involved violence against women, 1,905 (violence against children), and 25 (trafficking in persons).
