Trillanes: Duterte’s claim of fulfilled campaign promises ‘a big lie’
MANILA, Philippines — Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who is seeking a Senate seat in 2022, dismissed as “a big lie” President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that he was able to fulfill almost all of his campaign promises.
“We know that is not true. That’s a big lie. He said in three to six months corruption, crime, and illegal drugs would be eradicated, but it has worsened,” Trillanes said during Vice President Leni Robredo’s weekly radio show on Sunday.
Trillanes, one of Duterte’s fiercest critics, pointed out that the government’s controversial deals with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. and the alleged corruption at PhilHealth were proof that Mr. Duterte failed to eradicate corruption in government.
“In fact, maybe in 10 of his promises or 100 of his promises, maybe only two or three were fulfilled,” he said.
