Karinda and his followers clashed with elements of the Army’s 6th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Dabenayan, Mamasapano town, according to Uy.

Uy said that Karinda was the new emir of the Dawulah Islamiyah terrorist organization operating in Maguindanao following the death of Salahudin Hasan last October.

Hasan and his followers clashed with military forces in Damablac, Talayan town on Oct. 29. He was killed along with his wife.

Like Hasan, Karinda was also a trained bomb-maker, Uy said.
