Robredo supporters in Masbate decry tearing of posters by unknown group

MASBATE CITY — A day before the arrival of Vice President Leni Robredo in Masbate City, her supporters received information from concerned citizens who caught a few people ripping off her tarpaulins in the Masbate City Boulevard on Monday evening, November 29.
Vic Dalanon, coordinator of the Solid Leni Bicol-Masbate Kaakibat ni Leni Robredo (MKLR), said that they were busy preparing for the caravan set for the following day when their group chat received a message with photos from concerned citizens about the incident. MLRK is a volunteer group organized to support Robredo on her presidential bid.
“Some of our members went there after we received the message, but they did not catch them, so we were not able to identify them,” he added.
In a phone interview, Dalanon said they were alarmed and dismayed over the incident since all the tarpaulins and posters being distributed in Masbate are from the contributions of different individuals supporting Robredo.
“We do not have funds. We spend from our own pockets, so it was heartbreaking,” Dalanon stated.
Dalanon said they were not able to report it to the police since they were all busy preparing for Robredo’s arrival and because they were overwhelmed by the number of volunteers trying to coordinate to join the said caravan the following day in Masbate City.
He also added that if a similar incident happens again, they will have to take the necessary legal actions.
The caravan on Tuesday, November 30, started from Masbate Capitol grounds to Magallanes Coliseum.
It attracted around 3,000 people, 60 tricycles, 220 cars, and over 50 motorcycles.
The participants assembled at around 9 a.m, but the caravan started around 3:30 p.m. until around 5 p.m.
