IBP, Lente gear up for May 2022 elections
MANILA, Philippines — Two major organizations have joined forces to ensure clean, orderly, and honest local and national elections next year.
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), an organization of lawyers, and the cause-oriented Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente) formalized their cooperation with the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA).
“The IBP will be helping educate and capacitate the public on the different electoral laws, issues and processes. Through our regional chapters and legal aid offices, we hope to file cases against election law violators to set an example and be a deterrent to future violators,” Burt Estrada, national president of the IBP, said at the signing ceremony.
For his part, Ona Caritos, executive director of Lente, said the partnership among the legal professionals and various stakeholders would be pivotal to have a “genuine 2022 elections.
The MOA seeks joint endeavors in cleansing the list of registered voters and mobilization of the various stakeholders for more active participation in the electoral processes notably information and education campaigns.
