2 Pampanga towns now free of COVID-19

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Two of the 19 towns and three cities in Pampanga are now free of COVID-19, the provincial government disclosed on Monday, Nov. 29.

In its latest bulletin, the provincial epidemiology and surveillance unit identified the two towns with zero active COVID-19 cases as Sasmuan and Santa Rita, both located in the 2nd district of Pampanga.

Data showed that Sasmuan attained its COVID-free status after its lone patient recovered from the disease on Nov. 27 while Santa Rita’s three patients were clreared from the disease on Nov. 28.

Sasmuan had a total of 284 COVID-19 cases since last year, of which 263 have recovered while 21 had died. Santa Rita has recorded 1,042 total cases, of which 963 have recovered and 79 had died.

As of Monday, the towns of Arayat, Santa Ana, Apalit, Masantol, Minalin, San Simon and San Luis have only a single case each.

Pampanga has 134 active COVID-19 as of Monday. The capital City of San Fernando has the most active cases at 23, followed by Floridablanca and Guagua towns at 18 cases each, and Mexico town at 17.

This city, San Fernando, Angeles City, and 17 towns in this province all recorded zero new cases on Monday. The towns of Guagua and Arayat recorded a single new case each.

Pampanga has recorded a total of 46,542 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 43,931 have recovered while 2,477 had died.
