MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Some 5,000 students in Lubao town were vaccinated Saturday against COVID-19 under Pampanga’s “Vacc-2-School” program.

With support from the provincial government, Lubao administered the first dose of Pfizer vaccine to 12- to 17-year-old students at the town’s gymnasium and in a private function hall in a nearby locality.

In a statement, Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda said the vaccination is in preparation for possible in-person classes in the next school year.

She said the students needed to be ready in case the national government allows physical classes next year.

Malu Lacson, deputy commander of the provincial vaccination rollout, said as the number of persons getting vaccinated increases, COVID-19 cases decrease.
