Over P54M worth of shabu seized from two suspects in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines — Shabu or crystal meth with an estimated value of P54.77 million have been seized from two suspected drug dealers in Caloocan City, the Northern Police District (NPD) said.

Reports from NPD said that suspects identified as Ali Usman, 38, from Manila; and Von Emil Flores, from Malabon, were arrested in a buy-bust operation launched early Friday morning.

According to NPD, undercover officers tried to buy the illegal substances from the suspect at a lodging inn located at Barangay 136 of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan.  Aside from the P1,000 bill and the 74 other P1,000 bills used as marked and boodle money, respectively, various amounts of shabu were recovered from the two suspects.

Police found one small and medium sachet with shabu and eight other sizeable Chinese tea bags containing shabu.  The illegal substances were inside a yellow sack.

All in all, 8.055 kilograms of shabu were collected from the two.

The suspects who are currently under the custody of the NPD’s District Drug Enforcement Unit are expected to face charges for violating sections of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
