COVID-19 deaths top 48,000 with 142 more fatalities

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday that 142 more patients died of COVID-19 complications.

The additional fatalities brought the total to 48,017 patients, who represent 1.70 percent of all the 2.83 million confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

The DOH has so far recorded over 4,800 deaths due to COVID-19 this November. However, the health agency earlier explained that deaths reported in its daily case bulletin include fatalities from the previous months.

The country still has 17,853 active cases of COVID-19. Of the active cases, 14.2 percent are severe and 6.1 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death.

Meanwhile, another 51.5 percent are mild, 6.6 percent are asymptomatic, and 21.57 percent are moderate, according to DOH.

On hospitalization, 29 percent of intensive care unit beds, 26 percent of isolation beds, 16 percent of ward beds, and 18 percent of ventilators are currently being used.
