MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) logged only 863 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the second lowest recorded infection rate for November following the 849 cases on November 16.
Friday also marked the third straight day that the country had less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases. There were only 890 cases on Wednesday and 975 on Thursday.
With these new positive tests, the Philippines’ active COVID-19 cases now stand at 17,853, or 0.6 percent of all 2,830,387 confirmed cases of the disease. Of the active cases, 51.5 percent are mild, 6.6 percent are asymptomatic, 21.57 percent are moderate, 14.2 percent are severe, and 6.1 percent are critical.
The overall confirmed cases also include 791 new recoveries and 142 more deaths. Overall, 2,764,517 patients have already recovered and 48,017 have died.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported a positivity rate of 2.5 percent out of 38,998 individuals tested on Wednesday.
On hospitalization, 29 percent of intensive care unit beds, 26 percent of isolation beds, 16 percent of ward beds, and 18 percent of ventilators are currently being used.
Two testing laboratories were not operational on Wednesday while two laboratories were not able to submit their data on time. The four labs contributed an average of 0.2 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals in the last 14 days.
Seventeen duplicate entries were removed from the total case count, while 77 cases found to have tested negative have been removed from the total case count. Another 128 recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after final validation.
