MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Regents of the Universidad de Manila (UDM), formally accepted the “Certificate of Authority to Reopen Campus for the Conduct of Limited Face to Face Classes & Internship” (Certificate of Authority) for BS Nursing and BS Physical Therapy students granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Domagoso was accompanied by University President Dr. Felma Carlos-Tria and the entire UDM family when accepting the certificate of authority.

The authority to conduct limited face-to-face classes was granted by CHED after UDM’s compliance with the rigorous requirements crafted jointly by CHED and the Department of Health (DOH).

The said requirements include retrofitting of classrooms to ensure the safety of teachers and students amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Proper floor markings, class scheduling, regular sanitation, installation of automatic alcohol dispensers and handwashing stations, QR code-based contact tracing, availability of an isolation tent, and comprehensive manual of various protocols related to battling and suppressing COVID-19, among others, are some of the notable requirements complied with by UDM.

All of these will be replicated and applied to the remaining programs of UDM as the university seeks to obtain CHED’s nod for the conduct of limited face to face classes for all its programs following the lowering to Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila.

As correctly observed by CHED-NCR Director, Dr. Virginia Akiate, the City Government of Manila’s ever-present support is crucial in UDM’s success amidst the pandemic.

“Rest assured that UDM and the City Government of Manila will continue to work hand in hand and strive to ensure that quality education will always be given to the youth of the City of Manila,” Domagoso said.
