MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) second division will handle two other petitions seeking to declare presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as a nuisance candidate and cancel his certificate of candidacy for the 2022 national elections.
Comelec’s Office of the Clerk Commission confirmed to INQUIRER.net in a phone interview on Wednesday that the cases filed by one Tiburcio Marcos and Danilo Lihaylihay against Marcos Jr. were raffled off to the poll body’s second division, composed of Socorro Inting and Antonio Kho — both appointees of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Marcos and Lihaylihay want the Comelec to cancel Marcos’ certificate of candidacy and declare him as a nuisance candidate, respectively.
It was learned that Tiburcio and Lihaylihay are both independent aspirants running for president.
The Comelec second division also handles the cancellation of the COC of Marcos filed by political detainees.
So far, there are five petitions against Marcos Jr — another seeks disqualification of COC and one wants him disqualified.
The said two petitions have yet to be raffled off, according to the Comelec’s Office of the Clerk.
