2 Zambales towns now free of COVID-19

Two of the 13 towns in this province managed to obtain a virus-free status Tuesday after posting zero active COVID-19 cases, said the provincial health office.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Two of the 13 towns in this province managed to obtain a virus-free status Tuesday after posting zero active COVID-19 cases, said the provincial health office.

The latest daily tally of the province shows that the lone active infection of Palauig and San Felipe towns had recovered from the viral disease. Also, no cases were registered Tuesday in the two towns.

The province recorded only one additional COVID-19 case from Masinloc town Tuesday, which brought its active infections to 61.

Since the pandemic broke out last year, the province recorded 9,825 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 9,458 had recovered, and 597 had died.

To date, 195,230 eligible residents in the province have received the COVID-19 vaccines, of whom 126,802 are vaccinated fully.

The province needs to vaccinate 454,730 or 70 percent of its 649,615-population to achieve herd immunity.
