MANILA, Philippines —The Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) arrested the claimant of a package tagged as documents containing 100 ecstasy tablets in Bulacan.
In a report on Monday, the BOC said the shipment was declared as a “letter” but on physical examination was found to contain 100 pieces of ecstasy tablets valued at P170,000.
A controlled delivery operation led to the arrest of the claimant.
This was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) with the assistance of the members of BOC-NAIA’s Enforcement and Security Service as part of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.
The claimant and seized drugs were then turned over to PDEA for custodial investigation and inquest for violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 and Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Meanwhile, both the PDEA and the BOC have yet to publicly identify who the arrested claimant is.
The arrest came just a week after BOC seized P3 million worth of ecstasy shipment in a package declared to contain a “wedding dress” in Taytay, Rizal.
