Let’s help Althea keep her smile and future

Behind Althea Danica Atun’s happy disposition is a longing to have her congenital heart disease treated immediately.

“She wants to overcome her heart problem while still young so she can pursue her dream of becoming a teacher,” Alma Atun of Masinloc, Zambales, said of her youngest daughter.

Mrs. Atun says her 6-year-old daughter is already aware of her condition specially when she and her mother go to the Philippine Heart Center for her checkup.

The hole in Althea’s heart is 3.7 cm wide, which is .4 cm bigger than the normal size, Mrs Atun said.

She said the indication that her daughter is ready for the operation which would cost P200,000 at the PHC is due to the fact that she has not been attacked by coughs and colds for the last four months. “I am appealing for help and support from your readers because my husband’s earning from a repair shop is not even enough for us,” Mrs. Atun said.
