Leni Robredo supporters in Negros Occidental join ‘Palugaw ni Leni’

BACOLOD CITY – Supporters of presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo joined the nationwide “Palugaw ni Leni,” serving over 12,000 bowls of rice porridge in 13 cities and municipalities all over Negros Occidental on Saturday, November 20.

From fancy set-ups to mobile trisikads (pedicabs) reaching inner roads, Kakampinks went all-out, exceeding their initial target of 5,000 lugaw (porridge) bowls by more than double, said lawyer Pinky Mirano Ocampo, Laban Leni Negros Occidental (LLNO) spokesperson.

They consolidated the figures submitted by its members coming from various groups, including the Negros Youth for Leni, Team Leni Robredo, Victorias Para Kay Leni, Kabataan Para Kay Leni Silay, Lenitarians and individual volunteers among others, she said.

In Bacolod City, more than 4,000 beneficiaries were served with rice porridge, pink pandesal, and pink juice in 11 barangays.

“Volunteers also conducted teach-ins, gave out posters, komiks (comic books) and flyers so people will get to know who our chosen candidates are,” Ocampo said.

In Silay City, the Kabataan para kay Leni Robredo served 2,000 beneficiaries in eight areas.

The Victorias for Leni volunteers also exceeded their target, serving over 2,300 people in various barangays while Team Leni Saravia volunteers in EB Magalona also served 150 people in their community.

La Carlota City Kakampinks set-up a stall at the Public Plaza and were able to share their goods with 800 beneficiaries. Some volunteer groups opted to give out pink puto (rice cakes) and pink siopaos (steamed buns).

In Hinobaan town, 250 people were served lugaw, followed by Sipalay City – 400, Kabankalan City – 450, and Bago City – 200, Ocampo said.

In the north, volunteers in Manapla town served 500 beneficiaries in four areas, 300 in the town of Toboso, 500 in San Carlos City, and 300 in Murcia town.
