MANILA, Philippines—A female party planner was shot dead Tuesday night in front of a gas station in Quezon city, Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Geoge Regis said Wednesday.
Regis identified the victim as Cheryl Agnes Salinel Sarmiento, 39, a resident of Fairview, Quezon City.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was in her car when four unidentified suspects armed with M16 rifle and 9 mm hand guns shot her in front of the Caltex gas station along Commonwealth Avenue corner Regalado street, Fairview, Regis said.
The suspects were wearing black jackets and black bonnets and were on board a beige or green close van with an unknown plate number.
Regis quoted witnesses as saying that they saw men suddenly alight from the van and hit Sarmiento on different parts of her body. One of the witnesses said that two successive shots were fired after the suspects boarded their vehicle.
Regis said that the responding Quezon City Rescue Team tried to revive the victim but failed.
Twenty-six fired cartridges of M16 rifle and 12 of 9mm handgun were recovered from the scene, Regis added.
