MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) has been tasked to work on President Rodrigo Duterte’s information on a presidential aspirant supposedly using cocaine, PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said Saturday.
“PDEG has been tasked to work on the said info,” Carlos said in a text message.
Carlos has yet to confirm if the PNP already had information about the presidential aspirant’s supposed use of illegal drugs or if they only learned it from the President.
Duterte, in his speech during the meeting of the national and regional task force to end local communist armed conflict in Mindoro on Thursday, claimed that a male presidential aspirant is using cocaine.
He did not mention the politician’s name, but blasted the candidate’s qualifications to lead the nation and hinted that the latter comes from a rich clan.
“He is a very weak leader—his character—except for the name. The father [was], but him? What has he accomplished? He may win hands down. OK. If that is what the Filipino wants, go ahead, as long as you know,” said Duterte.
